What European City Do You Belong In?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Today is Black Friday- I woke up to see the news report on all the crowds at stores, the traffic reporter reporting on deserted streets and the weatherman bearing cold weather blues news! So since I am one of few people in America who had to work on the day after Thanksgiving, I found myself surfing the web wee bit more than I usually would and voila- came across this cutest sort of questionnaire!

What European City Do You Belong in! Hooray! Take me away from this frigid weather and let me see where I truly truly belong! Here are my results:

You Belong in Amsterdam

A little old fashioned, a little modern - you're the best of both worlds. And so is Amsterdam.
Whether you want to be a squatter graffiti artist or a great novelist, Amsterdam has all that you want in Europe (in one small city).

Hmmmmmm Amsterdam it says.... well I'm not sure about that, although it did hit the nail on the head when it referenced "a little old fashion , a little modern" that is me! Ok- thats my Black Friday contribution to the web. I soon hope to have more time to blog, I have tons of new tips for Macs, awesome quick helpful web references I wish to share- but little time to sit and compose a quality post! But they will come, I promise! In the meantime enjoy the holiday season!

Bloc Party Goes UltraMan!

When is bad good? I recall the visually bad Ultraman invading my TV set as a youngster, admittedly I spent a great deal of time with my "baby sitter" aka the tube! There was UltraMan, Brady Bunch, Mork and Mindy, Lost in Space, Jetsons and much more cheesy television for my viewing pleasure! Yes looking back at these programs they visually were unnatural, strange, cheesy and kinda just ridiculous. Yet what these programs did do were provide an outlet, yes I want to live with Astro and have a button pushing job! Yes I wanted to have a talking robot and super powers to kill the monster invaders! And yes I too want to create worlds of the unknown- better- cooler- leave me with my Legos to create and conquer! The creative juices were flowing, and I was inspired to think outside 'the box' - so with my Lego collection, rocks, leaves, boxes, chairs, you name it, forts were created, backyards converted into lands of the unknown and creatures were being drawn in notebooks with my magical pencil as my weapon of choice!

So what does this all mean? OR why am I taking a trip down memory lane? Well its all due to one of my favorite groups latest single! Oh yeah...Flux is the Bloc Party video that has me skipping down memory lane!

If you're a fan of the group then you'll more than likely dig this latest release. I'm not a 'music expert' nor do I try to pass as one, so to attempt to give this song or video a proper review would be silly. I find this video to be nostalgic; it bought back memories from a work free, bill free and creative time filled period in my life so that in my book is reason enough for me to enjoy this video and recommend it to others!

Bloc Party Goes Ultraman

So if bad old time television brings back happy memories then I suppose thats when bad is good! Thanks to Bloc Party: Flux for a trip down memory lane!

Flux will on sale November 14th

Flickr Fun :Duckies go to Vegas

flickr funWell this may not exactly be Technical advice or a how to blog post....but it is helpful for those of you who haven't put your flickr account to much use. Not sure what flickr is? Well in a nutshell is where you can browse, upload and share your pictures online- yes for free- upgrade to pro if you feel you just can't get enough!

Since I myself find Flickr helpful when seeking visual inspiration, a reason to seek a chuckle or actually for my own photo storage (which I will be sharing shortly) I figured I should start highlighting other peoples public accounts which I find funny, interesting, beautiful or whatever the pictures portray.

So for my First Flickr Fun Set I preset to you Digicolleens- Ducky in Vegas! Seriously Cute and humorous. It makes me think.... what can I do with donkey? hhhmmmm we shall see :)

Do You Use Logic or Feelings?

Are you more of a logical, detailed oriented, perhaps a huge FACTS based type of person?

Or would you classify yourself as more of a feeling, imaginative, 'big picture' oriented person?
Well here is a fun way to gauge what you are...its the difference between the right brain vs the left brain. How exactly the theory is proved by a simple test as this - I'm not sure, but it is fun! I know when my friends replied with their answers some were dead set on it not turning the other way and vice versa!

So just a fun type of test to see if you're a Righty or Left Brainiac!

right brain vs left brain

Check out the test and feel free to comment or pass it on!

How Anyone can Make Money Blogging!

People keep asking but how can I make money blogging? What can I write about? What do I know about Blog stuff! Well the answer is simple!

In order for you to blog and find stuff to blog about- write what YOU know about!

  1. If your a mommy, write about being a mommy! There are plenty of mommy-to-be women who may not know the first thing about what you've mastered! There are a number of topics Moms can blog about! Moms are masters in "how to" or "what if" scenarios plus the creativity involved in everyday simple tasks- I'm sure readership wouldn't be hard to come by!
  2. If you're an Accountant blog about tips, tools, overlooked items people don't know about! Your on the "inside" so share common information you know that commoners don't know about!
  3. If you're a college student write about the "Real" college experience! Thoughts about classes, teachers, assignments, campus life! Many would be students may be looking for an insiders voice!
Same can be said for a million other status, careers and hobbies! Write what you know or what you'd like to become an expert in! Share your thoughts and then some networking can help as well (I'll blog about that later).

Then when your ready to blog, simply incorporate some ads into your blog! You will get paid by advertisers based on click thrus (number of times a person clicks the ad) and/or page impressions (the amount of page-views your blog receives).

Advertising you can incorporate into your blog:
  • Google Adsense (if you use blogger the work is almost all done for you)
  • Adbrite (free inclusion in their directory, plus monetize videos and pictures as well)
  • Text Link Ads (full editorial control over what ads will go on your site)
  • Blog Ads ( Invitation only and requires an "in" email for info on sponsor availability )
(Don't be afraid of how to add this code into your blog! For the most part its simply copy and past OR they have tutorials made easy! Also a simple email can help if still in doubt.)

This is the simplest method to start earning revenue on your blog! There are a ton of other affiliate/advertising programs out there. I will write & review many more in due time but for now I believe that is a great place to get started with familiarizing yourself with ads and different type of programs available for you to start earning money with your blog.

The Day I Got a Mac And Saw Superstars!

I finally took the plunge and got a MAC! Whoo-hoo right? I'm extremely excited to become a Mac Master! Which Mac did I buy? Well none other than the 24-inch beauty of an iMac, yes it costs a pretty penny or two but its worth it! While I get use to my new addition of tech toys, I plan to write about "cool stuff" I encounter, tips and tools I think you should know about and illustrate exactly why YOU too will want a iMac of your very own!

Now on to the superstars I ran into- are you ready? I saw Rebelde! If you don't know who they are....well not to fear, I didn't know either. But after I saw a crowd of people following around Roberta I figured the girl with the long pink hair must be famous! Then I saw the almighty fan come in and start crying and shaking at the site of Miguel from that group! (see picture below) Mind you these two were right in front of me and I of course had no clue- I was just in my own world of happiness since I was purchasing my 24 inch beauty of a computer! It wasn't until I got home and looked them up did I realize the pop sensation I was standing next to! So of course now I blog about it and tell my friends! (Some actually knew who I was talking about- envious they were!)Well here is my picture of the man who had fans crying! miguel rebeldeTo me he looks like a young Antonio Banderas or a cousin of Adam Brody!

See How Easily You Can Market Your Business For Free: On Google, MSN and more!

Recently I've had to find ways to make sure that companies gain exposure in their "local" area. Seems like a simple yet often overlooked idea right? So while looking around at local directories I figured I'd share what I have learned.

Submitting your business or service to local markets is:

  • Free and Easy
  • Allows you to add in specialties, directions and why you are better than the rest!
  • To gain that extra boost some directories include a coupon to add- right next to your listing on the map.
  • That's right! Your listed on the map with directions on how to get to your location!
  • Google, Yahoo & MSN are three I highly recommend you submitting to- widely used and great free exposure!
  • Multiple listings for the same business are accepted for free too!
  • Added photos are free on some of these directories!
The process is alittle time consuming, take into consideration verification via phone or postcard, review process that can take anywhere from 3 days to up to 8 weeks depending on the directory!

Not sure where to get started? Well here you go!

  1. Submit to Google Local
  2. Submit to Yahoo Local
  3. Submit To MSN Local Actual submission page is here though...took a bit of clicking around to find it!
  4. Still not enough - Check out Superpages as well- they give lots of cool options to include plus their interfaces allows you to see how many click thrus you've gotten!

Have questions? Feel free to contact me! Know of other freebies leave comments for everyone to enjoy!

I want to Start A Blog...Help!

So there are people who really dig the concept of having their very own blog.... often times I hear How can I start a blog? What should I blog about? I'm not a writer....its gonna suck. Well not to fear, yes it will take time but if you desire a blog then heck....go ahead and start one!

A great Blogging platform for newbies is of course Blogger! Why? Simple its free, its easy and you can set up ads with virtually no knowledge of HTML or blogging in general! It truly is one of the simplest methods to start you own blog!

Why I recommend blogger for newbies:

  • Blogger is free
  • The "widgets" make it easy for All to use- insert adds, insert widgets, publicize your blog all in one interface
  • Plenty of free templates for you to choose from...simple cut and pasting of code is all you need to know how to do!
  • Sign in with an existing Google account or create a separate account just for Blogging!
What you should also do when thinking of Blogging:

Set up a Photobucket or Flickr account; why you ask?! Simply because you will want to add pictures or link to videos or what have you and both of those services are free and VERY self explanatory! The key here is to make it simple for YOU to be able to blog and do what you thought never was possible!

Secondarily get yourself in the know! Google what your niche is or might be! For instance, if your into Techie stuff check out Digg or Lifehacker! IF you want a general women issues and society pressures for weight check out Back in Skinny jeans or Google catch phrases! What ever you think you want to blog about food, travels, relationships or parenting its all out there! A Great source is also Blogher! Plenty of women, mothers, VPs, writers and designers all can be found there!

Third don't be afraid to network! Ask questions in forums, offer advice or simply comment on another blog if you like it and tell the author why! Its pretty simple!

I will be publishing more helpful hints for newbie bloggers, this is just one post to get you started!

Happy Monday!
